The Greatest Generation

The “Greatest Generation” is the latest sculpture in the LMSG. It is Dennis Smith’s tribute to the veterans of World War II.

The sculpture is based on Associated Press photographer Joe Rosenthal’s famous photo of the 2nd flag raising upon Mt. Suribachi on the island of Iwo Jima, February 23, 1945.

The sculpture expresses the love, admiration, and thanks we all have for the generation that fought this most terrible of worldwide conflicts.
